Hi,

a good privacy ecosystem cannot read messages exchanged between two people, even when they are criminals. Also cannot de anonymize users. As a result, criminals can stay hidden and can exchange whatever they want.

Protecting good people also means protecting bad people  neutral

But Utopia world can be different from ONION. The so called self regulating society can discourage "public" presence of wrong material. For example by acting on uNS.

It's so true...

Anyway, I' think that the skepticism is high not because "I can't read the code to check what it does" but because "No one can read the code, so how can I trust it?".
The same considerations apply to other famous closed-source software, but the large adoption conveys a feeling of security
