why would they need to, especially at work? all they need is to check the router logs. That gives every site that was visited and by what computer.
In reality very little has changed, as WhatsApp has shared your data with facebook for years 3. This isn’t to say that their privacy policy is or ever was any good: they collect all sorts of information from device identifiers and address contacts to metadata about who you talk to, how often, for how long, etc. This may not sound like much but there’s a nice quote in the Wired article that I really like:
“I don’t trust any product made by Facebook, (…) Their business model is surveillance. Never forget that.”
The news here is that under the new terms you can no longer opt-out from sharing your data with Facebook. You also have to accept these terms in order to continue using the app, so it’s effectively an ultimatum.
Recently someone posted a thread about telemetry 4 and whether we should allow it or not. I recommend you read the linked article and my response there, since what is happening here with WhatsApp is very related.
Ugh. If you want secure then just create a virutal machine and surf the web that way. If it goes down it is so easy to rebuild it.
I suggest making a virtual with Linux because using a windows OS for it is quite expensive.
It is a spin from sandboxing the browser which was popular back in the hayday.
The idea is run the cookies all over the place. The whole environment just gets flattened by the mad construction company and it is rebuilt by being a city project from the Mayor. (and then you bill the person that wrecked your creation in the first place.)
Most likely, I will meet with my friends and we will discuss the latest news from the world of cybersecurity. Also, perhaps we will drink beer.
And what about you?
Hi
unfortunately it can not be permanently deleted.
on start menu, type cmd (command prompt)
then type : ipconfig/displaydns
this command would bring up browsing history that was actually deleted previously.
if you have found a way to permanently delete please share.
thanks
Hi guys, I have a question for you.
How do I know if my antivirus scanner is not working correctly? I mean when the antivirus misses malware and viruses. I tried installing a free version of Webroot and it found a W32 / OnlineG-Z on my pc, but it would not quarintine it unless I registered. I have Norton Anti-virus and it doesn't pick up anything of that sort. I want to know what to look for exactly when I look for keyloggers or spyware. I do not understand what all the files mean in System32, where I read is believed to be most spywares.
Also, is Privacy Mantra safe?
And if you take not so drastic measures? I would like to know more useful tips.
Haha. This is not a good idea in my opinion. In general, cybersecurity-focused users prefer to create completely random complex passwords and store them on paper.
Does it even exist secure VPN service?
Well, in some conditions, using a VPN service is justified. I take this as an additional step in the formation of security.
Oh, I don’t trust any type of "safe" application for a long time. Especially those that are produced by large corporations such as Facebook or Google. Have you heard the latest news about the WhatsApp policy update? This is very stupid, IMHO.
Oh, you know what? I am going to follow your topic cause I am also interested in creating a website or forum within the ecosystem. Hmm, maybe someone from the ecosystem developers or just some talented users can help us!
Well, people often post photos of plane tickets or concert tickets on the Internet, forgetting to remove personal data. In this case, cybercriminals simply "steal" their identity.
Yes, sharing personal information such as date of birth, pet names, and so on is quite dangerous. Usually, this data is needed in order to restore access to your account in case of password loss. But after all, having learned this information, attackers can also gain access to the page. This approach to hacking online accounts is called social engineering. Fortunately, many people today set up two-factor authentication, and to recover the password, you must enter the code that comes to the phone number.
Well, first of all, you should stop using Google products. Yes, the simplest and most obvious step. It will still not be possible to completely abandon interaction with Google - the same ads, counters, captcha and other services will still come across you on the Internet and in applications. But this does not prevent us from keeping communication with the company to a minimum, both on the desktop and on mobile devices.
In general, today almost any service can be called reliable. I agree with the previous user that the services differ only in price and in the number of countries. On my own I can recommend TunnelBear - a good VPN service that guarantees the proper level of security.
Hmm, I want to note that you are not paranoid Indeed, such seemingly non-obvious things are very good clues for cybercriminals or just stalkers. Therefore, I believe that every user should be aware that any personal data on the Internet deprives users of their privacy.
Hello everyone.
Recently, I have become even more worried about the security of my personal data.
I ask you to share your opinion about VPN services, which one is the most reliable?
I am also interested to know about their pros and cons. Perhaps you can recommend a specific service. The only requirement is a free trial period.
Thank you in advance.
