On February 7, 2023, a Russian national pleaded guilty in the United States to money laundering charges and attempted to conceal the source of funds obtained in connection with Ryuk's ransomware attacks.

Denis Mihaqlovic Dubnikov, 30, was arrested in Amsterdam in November 2021 and extradited from the Netherlands the following August. He is scheduled to be sentenced on April 11, 2023.
"Between at least August 2018 and August 2021, Dubnikov and his co-conspirators laundered the proceeds of Ryuk ransomware attacks on individuals and organizations throughout the United States and abroad," the Department of Justice (DoJ) said.

Dubnikov and his accomplices are said to have engaged in various criminal schemes designed to obscure the trail of the ill-gotten proceeds.

According to DoJ, a chunk of the 250 Bitcoin ransom paid by a U.S. company in July 2019 after a Ryuk attack was sent to Dubnikov in exchange for about $400,000. The crypto was subsequently converted to Tether and transferred to a co-conspirator, who then exchanged it for the Chinese Renminbi.

In all, the parties involved in the criminal enterprise are estimated to have laundered at least $150 million in ransom payments.

Dubnikov is also the co-founder of Coyote Crypto and Eggchange, with the latter headquartered in Federation Tower East (or Vostok), a supertall skyscraper known to harbor several cryptocurrency businesses with ties to money laundering associated with ransomware operations.

According to Chainalysis, Eggchange received over $34 million worth of cryptocurrency from darknet markets, scams, fraud shops, and ransomware operators between 2019 and 2021.

Ryuk, which first emerged on the threat landscape in 2018, is attributed to a threat actor tracked as Wizard Spider and has compromised governments, academia, healthcare, manufacturing, and technology organizations worldwide.

Often delivered through first-stage malware such as TrickBot or BazarBackdoor, Ryuk is also a predecessor to the Conti ransomware, which shuttered its operations in May 2022 and splintered into smaller units.

Crypton isn’t the only exchange for CRP Crypton, you can check out coin tiger or my personal favorite after Crypton Exchange which is LBank exchange.

Of course. The Crypton Exchange is not the only exchange where the Crypton coin is listed but it outperformed all the exchanges where the Crypton coin is listed through the provision of anonymous trading, fast deposit, instant withdrawal, no restriction worldwide, no Kyc, and daily limit.

The action or process of investing money into something for profit is called investment. What it means to use the Crypton coin as an investment is to first understand the coin's potential and how to profit from it.

Hey mate you are right the act of investing your capital to a thing is investing so that would be investing with money, now the title says investing using CRP Crypton which means investing in something by paying in CRP Crypton.

The idea is the original poster provides some services or selling of goods to some people that will buy and use Crypton coins as payment. Meanwhile, this is an investment of money for the original poster cause he will increase his Crypton bag.

There are more like Dr Hack that is working towards the development of the Utopia p2p ecosystem. I think the effort of making this project known to the public remain in the hands of people who are yet to do something to publicize the Utopia p2p project and I read in a topic where some user are talking about wear merch which I believe will still do something.

thrive

nQIujUJ.png
The Treasury and the Bank of England have launched a consultation on the introduction of a state-backed digital pound. We explain how a “Britcoin” could work.
Customers could be using a new digital pound by the end of the decade, under plans being drawn up by the Treasury and the Bank of England.
The government wants to ensure the public has access to safe money that is easy to use in the digital age.

If introduced, the “Britcoin” would be issued by the Bank of England and could be used by households and businesses for everyday payments both in-store and online.

"While cash is here to stay, a digital pound issued and backed by the Bank of England could be a new way to pay that’s trusted, accessible and easy to use,” said chancellor Jeremy Hunt.

After the collapse of crypto exchange FTX and the volatility seen in many cryptocurrencies, the Bank and Treasury will be seeking to reassure the public that a state-backed digital pound is as safe as cash.

We look at how a Britcoin could work, and how it would differ from bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies.

Why is the government looking at launching a digital pound?
The Treasury and Bank of England have launched a consultation paper that is open for comments until 7 June 2023. They say that a digital pound - or central bank digital currency (CBDC) - is likely to be needed in the future, and they want to support private sector innovation, choice and efficiency in digital payments.

“As the world around us and the way we pay for things becomes more digitalised, the case for a digital pound in the future continues to grow. A digital pound would provide a new way to pay, help businesses, maintain trust in money and better protect financial stability,” said Andrew Bailey, governor of the Bank of England.

“However, there are a number of implications that our technical work will need to carefully consider. This consultation and the further work the Bank will now do will be the foundation for what would be a profound decision for the country on the way we use money.”

Other countries are also considering launching a CBDC including the eurozone, the US and China.

The UK government is arguably designing a digital pound so it can maintain UK monetary sovereignty, compete with digital dollars and digital euros, and fend off so-called Big Tech rivals.

While Facebook has abandoned its Libra stablecoin project, other tech companies and non-banking firms could still set up alternative currencies that are outside the regulatory control of governments.

What would a digital pound look like?
A Britcoin would replicate the role of cash in a digital world so that it is risk-free, highly trusted and accessible.

According to the Treasury, £10 of a digital pound would always be worth the same as £10 of cash.

It would be subject to rigorous standards of privacy and data protection; neither the government nor the Bank of England would have access to personal data and holders would have the same level of privacy as a bank account.

The digital currency would be accessed through digital wallets offered to consumers by private companies through smartphones or smartcards.

It’s intended for payments - online or in-store - and for making transfers to friends and family. It’s not intended to be used for savings, as there would be no interest paid on holdings.

There would be some initial restrictions on how much an individual or business could hold.

According to the Treasury, “this would strike a balance between encouraging use and managing risks, such as the potential for large and rapid outflows from banking deposits into digital pounds”. The limits could be amended in the future.

How would a Britcoin differ to cryptocurrencies?
There are several key differences between a digital pound and cryptocurrencies. Unlike cryptoassets and stablecoins, the digital pound would be issued by the Bank of England.

This means it will have intrinsic value - £10 of the digital pound will be the same as a £10 note in your wallet - and not be volatile, unlike cryptocurrencies.

The digital pound also wouldn’t be anonymous; the Treasury notes that “the ability to identify and verify users is necessary to prevent financial crime, and essential for trust and confidence in money and therefore wide use of the digital pound”. This would be similar to  digital payments from bank accounts.

There are a few similarities with cryptocurrencies. A digital pound would use similar technology: a “core ledger”, in other words, a fast, resilient, secure technology platform. However, this would be provided by the central Bank, rather than a private firm.

Users would store their Britcoin in a digital wallet, and manage their balance and make payments from the wallet. These would work in the same way as contactless payments. Payments would be speedy and confirmed immediately.

When could a digital pound launch?
The government will decide whether to implement a digital pound around the middle of this decade. Its decision will largely be based on future developments in money and payments.

The earliest stage at which the digital pound could be launched would be the second half of the decade.

An Iranian nation-state group sanctioned by the U.S. government has been attributed to the hack of the French satirical magazine Charlie Hebdo in early January 2023.

Microsoft, which disclosed details of the incident, is tracking the activity cluster under its chemical element-themed moniker NEPTUNIUM, which is an Iran-based company known as Emennet Pasargad.

In January 2022, the U.S. Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) tied the state-backed cyber unit to a sophisticated influence campaign carried out to interfere with the 2020 presidential elections. Two Iranian nationals have been accused for their role in the disinformation and threat campaign.

Microsoft's disclosure comes after a "hacktivist" group named Holy Souls (now identified as NEPTUNIUM) claimed to be in possession of the personal information of more than 200,000 Charlie Hebdo customers, including their full names, telephone numbers, and home and email addresses.

The breach, which allowed NEPTUNIUM to gain access to an internal database, is suspected to have been orchestrated as a retaliation against the publication for conducting a cartoon contest "ridiculing" Iranian Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei.

The release of the full cache of stolen data could lead to mass doxing, Redmond further cautioned.

"After Holy Souls posted the sample data on YouTube and multiple hacker forums, the leak was amplified by a concerted operation across several social media platforms," the Windows maker's Digital Threat Analysis Center (DTAC) said.

"This amplification effort made use of a particular set of influence tactics, techniques, and procedures (TTPs) DTAC has witnessed before in Iranian hack-and-leak influence operations."

The points of similarity include the use of false-flag personas to conduct their hack-and-leak operations, inauthentic sockpuppet accounts, and the impersonation of authoritative sources, corroborating an October 2022 advisory from the FBI.

The goal, the FBI assessed, is to "undermine public confidence in the security of the victim's network and data, as well as embarrass victim companies and targeted countries."

"These hack-and-leak campaigns involve a combination of hacking / theft of data and information operations that impact victims via financial losses and reputational damage," the agency added.

E-commerce industries in South Korea and the U.S. are at the receiving end of an ongoing GuLoader malware campaign, cybersecurity firm Trellix disclosed late last month.
The malspam activity is notable for transitioning away from malware-laced Microsoft Word documents to NSIS executable files for loading the malware. Other countries targeted as part of the campaign include Germany, Saudi Arabia, Taiwan and Japan.
NSIS, short for Nullsoft Scriptable Install System, is a script-driven open source system used to develop installers for the Windows operating system.
While attack chains in 2021 leveraged a ZIP archive containing a macro-laced Word document to drop an executable file tasked with loading GuLoader, the new phishing wave employs NSIS files embedded within ZIP or ISO images to activate the infection.
"Embedding malicious executable files in archives and images can help threat actors evade detection," Trellix researcher Nico Paulo Yturriaga said.
GuLoader Malware
Over the course of 2022, the NSIS scripts used to deliver GuLoader are said to have grown in sophistication, packing in additional obfuscation and encryption layers to conceal the shellcode.
The development is also emblematic of a broader shift within the threat landscape, which has witnessed spikes in alternative malware distribution methods in response to Microsoft's blocking of macros in Office files downloaded from the internet.

"The migration of GuLoader shellcode to NSIS executable files is a notable example to show the creativity and persistence of threat actors to evade detection, prevent sandbox analysis and obstruct reverse engineering," Yturriaga noted.
