Re: Conflict between the United States and Russia.

Moscow Promised Sensitive Response to Sanctions

Russia has already proved that, despite all restrictions, it is able to minimize the damage from them, diplomats noted. The restrictive instruments are "ineffective and counterproductive from the point of view of American interests.

Russia will give a strong response to the U.S. sanctions, according to the website of the Russian Foreign Ministry. The response will not necessarily be symmetrical, but "calibrated and sensitive for the American side," the ministry explained.

"The package of sanctions announced by the U.S. administration (already the 101st in a row) affecting the financial sector with the expansion of the list of persons against whom personal restrictions are imposed goes in line with Washington's ongoing attempts to change Russia's course," the statement said.

At the same time, Moscow has already proven that, despite all restrictions, it is able to minimize the damage. "And especially the sanctions pressure is not capable of affecting our determination to firmly defend our interests," the Foreign Ministry stressed.

The restrictive instruments are "ineffective and counterproductive from the standpoint of American interests," the diplomats are convinced.

The U.S. imposed sanctions against Russia for recognizing the DNR and LNR. What is important to know
Economy

On February 21, Putin announced the decision to recognize the independence and sovereignty of the DNR and LNR, explaining such measures by Kiev's unwillingness to comply with the Minsk agreements. Ukraine, the European Union, and the United States condemned Moscow's actions and threatened sanctions.

On the eve of the day, US President Joe Biden announced restrictions against Russia. They affect Russia's sovereign debt, Promsvyazbank and VEB and more than 40 of their subsidiaries, as well as some Russians. Among them are Denis Bortnikov, son of the FSB director and VTB deputy president and chairman of the board, Petr Fradkov, son of the former SVR director and Promsvyazbank chairman, and Vladimir Kirienko, son of the first deputy head of the presidential administration and VK general director.

The European Union also prepared its own list of sanctions. The restrictive measures concern 351 State Duma deputies who voted for the recognition of the DNR and LNR, 27 individuals and legal entities, Russia's access to the financial and capital markets of the EU.

British Prime Minister Boris Johnson announced sanctions against five Russian banks and three businessmen: Gennady Timchenko, Boris and Igor Rotenberg.

It does not seem to me that these war games of these countries will lead to a certain prosperity. I am afraid that if this continues and the heads of countries do not come to a definite consensus. We could experience a very strong drawdown of the stock markets. And also unfortunately behind the stock market our important bottom line, which drives almost 80% of our audiences, is the recession and the sevmet carrelation with the stock market.(
