A fake ChatGPT-branded Chrome browser extension has been found to come with capabilities to hijack Facebook accounts and create rogue admin accounts, highlighting one of the different methods cyber criminals are using to distribute malware.
"By hijacking high-profile Facebook business accounts, the threat actor creates an elite army of Facebook bots and a malicious paid media apparatus," Guardio Labs researcher Nati Tal said in a technical report.
"This allows it to push Facebook paid ads at the expense of its victims in a self-propagating worm-like manner."
The "Quick access to Chat GPT" extension, which is said to have attracted 2,000 installations per day since March 3, 2023, has since been pulled by Google from the Chrome Web Store as of March 9, 2023.
The browser add-on is promoted through Facebook-sponsored posts, and while it offers the ability to connect to the ChatGPT service, it's also engineered to surreptitiously harvest cookies and Facebook account data using an already active, authenticated session.

You don't have to hack into Facebook to get someone else's data. I think you get my joke.

The drawback of social media is that it's easy to get people's private information without hacking into their accounts and this is why people are encouraged not to share private information on social media. However, this is not about getting people's data but a hijacker using a strategy to hijack high-profile business accounts to post malicious paid media.

We need to make privacy our concern in this 21 century because hijackers and hackers are making use of different routes to steal data and other valuable things from internet users.

it's too hard to do now, there are no reliable services, but utopia inspires confidence.

I believe you are very correct, we are beginning to get insensitive about the security threat the internet has on hold. It is very easy to still one’s identity on the internet. That’s one of my main reasons of being on Utopia p2p because it offers decentralized services.

The need for projects like Utopia p2p need to be very much emphasized. Having to face the internet fraud issues, and also be completely decentralized, Utopia p2p in my own opinion has more usefulness that. A project like Solana.

We do need to make privacy our top priority in this 21st century but the lack of understanding of the benefit of privacy by some people is what makes them ignore the use of privacy and we have online theft to teach the benefit of privacy.

Despite the foolishness of some individual that make them sees privacy as a red flag still need to do our best by doing little teaching of the reason why privacy is needed maybe through our social media news feed or tweet.

accounts are most often hacked through the fault of their owners.

We can't say all accounts that are hacked happened through the account owner's mistake but in the account owner don't make use of the UtopiaP2P ecosystem then he/she is the one to be blame.
